My imaginary story.

•November 9, 2009 • Leave a Comment

It was a cold windy Friday night. I was at home on the couch watching T.V.I wanted to do something rather than stay in on a Friday night. Then, the doorbell rang. I got up and went to open the door. When I opened the door no one was there. But when I looked down I found a heart shaped box on the floor. I picked it up and went back inside. When I turned around my house was changed into a huge path with walls that seemed like it was never ending. I started walking down the hallway for which seemed to be forever when all of a sudden a white little ghost came out of nowhere. It stopped in front of me and said, “Hi I’m Casper. Its nice to meet you.” I was completely shocked. Was I dreaming? It didn’t seem like it. Casper and I kept talking and walking towards the end of the hallway until we came upon a huge room. The room had chairs, picture of people i’ve never seen before and a fireplace that was giving off so much heat. We walked up to the fireplace and before I could say anything the fire exploded. I rose my hands in front of my face. I put my hands and was shocked to see that the flames were frozen in place. I asked Casper if he did that but he said that it was I that froze the flames. Behind the flames we saw an entrance in the fireplace. We moved around the flames and jumped into the fireplace. We walked through and into a field filled with grass. In the middle of the field was a huge tree. I thought to myself that this whole thing was extremely weird. Then the tree started talking to us. It said that we needed to find a heart shaped box. But before i could give him the one i found everything went black. I woke up to find myself back in my house. What had happened? I guess i was dreaming, but just to make sure I got up and walked over to the front door. I opened the door and looked down. There was nothing there. As i turned around I looked down to find the heart shaped box in my house. I picked it up and closed the door.

The End.

Taking your next step towards college

•November 3, 2009 • Leave a Comment

In order to go to college you must first take the SAT or ACT.4,000 colleges and universities in the United States do require the SAT or ACT, there is a growing number of schools who have decided to become test optional. Each student who wants to go to college must at least take one of the two tests. About 55% of students improve their score the second time they take one of the two tests. Each test has something unique about it. The SAT is divided into three components which are Critical Reading, Math, and Writing. The ACT is divided into five components which are English, Math, Reading, Science, and Writing (which is optional).

I know that going to college might be a big step but if you look back then you will realize that high school and elementary school seemed like a piece of cake compared to college. In college you are in the real world. You will either live on campus or live at home. College may seem like a big thing but acually is just one more step into the world as an adult. At college theres parties, joining houses, and most of all your studies. The only good thing about college is that you get a lot of free days to yourself, and the vacations are long.

At college you will be fresh meat. You might meet some people who want to do better than you in every class. You might meet some people who play sports and just want to party. Then theres you and the other freshmen. Being a freshmen at college will seem awkward but just think that you have already been through it in high school. When your classes start, get a good seat. It is always important to get a good seat so that theres less distractions. The professor will either be someone who is old, but knows exactly what they are doing or someone who doesn’t know that much.

Another thing about college that I almost forgot was your dorms. You will need t0 choose what dorm you want to be in. Be careful with who you are sharing your room. Your roomates may be the party till sunlight kind or the I dont have time for you, I need to study. You never know, you may get someone who acts just like you do.

So you’ve learned everything to know about college. The studies, the dorm, the SAT and ACT, and the people there. Before I forget the number one most important thing is that you need to be yourselves. Being yourselves is the number one key ingredient for college. Don’t forget, your not gonna be the only freshmen there. So while your there try to make as many friends as you can.

“To be right is not always popular…To be popular is not always right.”

Honestly I have no idea what this quote means. I know that the last part To be popular is not always right means if you are right, you never have to be popular. Sometimes if someone is picking on someone and you decide to butt in then you are right.

10 Things That Make Me Laugh

•October 5, 2009 • Leave a Comment

1. Two years ago I was entered in a talent show at Saint Clare in Clifton. I was at the auditions just watching other people dance, or play an instrument. One of the competitors named craig campos along with his sister samantha were dancing on stage when all of a sudden craig dropped his sister on the floor at the end of routine.

2.A year ago I was on the Montclair swim Team. I was at a meet at rutgers. It was around eight in the morning and I was extremely tired. It was my turn to swim. I went up to the starting block and before it was time to swim. I fell in the water. The funny part is that almost everyone else that was in my heat fell in too.

3. I was on the cedar grove swim team. We  were taking a team photo and some of us were on the diving boards posing, when the board snapped.

4. Another thing that makes me laugh are my friends.

5. Another thing that makes me laugh is my mothers sense of humor.

6. Watching comedians on t.v. make me laugh.

7.My friends at Saint Mary’s

8. Random jokes

9. Watching funny movies with friends

10. The funniest thing is something completely stupid like a bad joke or someone falling or walking into a wall or seeing someone trip. I know that might seem mean but I think its funny.

This article was updated on October 1,2009. After a storm left hundreds dead and one of there cities, Manila, under water; a typhoon named Parma is expected to damage the Philippines on Saturday, October third. The typhoon was recently upgraded to super typhoon, with winds of 240 kph. “Parma comes on the heels of Typhoon Ketsana, which left at least 246 people dead as it passed over the Philippines over the weekend,” says a meteorologist. The storm affected nearly 2 million. President Gloria Arroyo has placed he country under the state of calamity in preparation for Param’s landfall. I think that typhoon Parma is going to be a huge deal. I am hoping that if it hit, that not many people will die.

Why I came to Saint Mary’s High School

•September 25, 2009 • Leave a Comment

Last year I went to Seton Hall Prep School. Unfortunately my freshmen year didn’t go to well, and I was let go. Having the fact that I wasn’t going back to Seton Hall Prep hurt a lot. It wasn’t something I was proud of but I was definitely upset about it. I had about two weeks to find a new school to go to. That’s when my mother told me that I should go to Saint Mary’s. I wasn’t ready to visit Saint Mary’s because I was still in shock about SHP.  When I visited I was extremely sad. I wasn’t ready to move on. Then the day finally came. School had started. The first day of school I walked in feeling extremely scared. I ended up in homeroom not knowing anyone except for two people. The bell rang and it was time to go to the morning assembly. When I walked upstairs I was completely shocked by everyone in the room. After the assembly it was time for classes. The first classes were kinda awkward but after the first three days I met a lot of people and along with that,  the teachers were great. Now I am loving Saint Mary’s and I am not regretting coming here at all. The school spirit here is intense. Everyone is dressed up in jersey’s, or wearing blue. A lot of people are excited for the pep rally. I have no idea what to expect because it is my first pep rally here in Saint Mary’s. I have a feeling that it is going to be extremely great!

Bad Computer Posture

•September 24, 2009 • Leave a Comment

I went on yahoo and found “Computer Pains: Preventing Computer-Related Injuries.com” While on that website I found that the most important posture while typing is the postion of your wrists and hands. The correct way to position your hands is compared to the posture of an old classical pianist. Also when typing, press lightly on the keys, making as little movement as possible; loud clacking sounds while typing is a sign of improper typing. Another site I found is “Computers and your Posture.com” On this site I found that a way to avoid blurry vision or headaches is- you can turn down the brightness of your computer and the contrast on your screen. Also if you do not sit up while typing you are more likely to get lower back pain, but neck pain is also a frequent problem. Just get up and walk around at regular intervals and never work for more than 45 minutes without a break.

Afghanistan blast kills at least 16

•September 17, 2009 • Leave a Comment

For my article I choose Afghanistan blast kills at least 16 people. In this article a car bomb exploded killing 16 people including soldiers while 55 people were severely injured. This article was taking place in Kabul, Afghanistan.  This article is comparing regular people, just like us, to terrorists. It shows us that terrorists still want to kill and that they still want the war to progress. The event occurred on Thursday, September 17, 2009. This article is similar to other stories I have heard about other bombings in Afghanistan. This event doesn’t lose my attention because it is something that I think everyone would want to hear about because it is a wakeup call that reminds us that the war is still going on. If I could pick a different ending for this story it would be that no one died. I would want that ending because when I watch T.V. I hear,  today five soldiers were killed today in Iraq or a roadside bomb injures 12 and kills one person. I want the war to be over and things to just be normal. The important message in the story is that unfortnately war is going on and we as individuals need to realize that. We need to know that soldiers are risking their lives for us. Along with that we thank you soldiers :)
